Short Shot Simulation

Product short shot on ribs area (thickness less than 1mm) due to lower down injection speed to solve visual problem. (Material flow line on surface). Visual is No Good higher injection speed but  without short shot.

Material: PC-PBT.

We gather all informations such as injection parameter, machine detail (Screw diameter, max injection speed…) , gate size correct material database and put into Moldflow. Part can be filled without short shot.

Supplier injection machine is old and we suspect machine performance (ex: max injection speed..) might be dropped due to wear off itself. We try to lower down injection speed from original 212 MPa to 140MPa or lower but it still can be filled.

We tend to lower down the machine injection speed capability to represent machine performance. Once we can simulate it short shot which same with actual case and we could revalidate whether thicken rib solution is work.

Method iis similar with “maximum injection pressure” which post by jk at 20-july.

Please advice whether this method is correct. Any suggestion is welcome.
