RIM - warpage makes steel to rubber

I've found an issue with RIM solver, maybe I've just overseen something...

I have a small rubberpart with 2 bigger metalcaps on top and bottom.

I choose RIM as process and the metal caps as 3D inserts.

From my experience in thermoplastic injection simulation I should get a fine result with warpage (Fill+pack+warp).

The same sequence is available for RIM, and with a rubber material with mechanical data it should work.

It does finally, but the metal caps are also shrinking an warping (~ 2mm in Ø from ~ Ø 100)!

Is that a bug?

I tried the same file with plastic and I got a resonable result (metal cap shrinks 1/1000mm).
Is the RIM solver weak in some way? Maybe it didn´t take the inlay material in account?

Best regards

Harald

After this post (within 1 day!) AutoDesk Germany contacted me and first came up with a workaround.

I did not like the workaround to much, since it didn´t improve my work.

But, - more important - this is a bug!
At least that is what I understand or what I´m told.

Something that was also in the thermoplastic solver and when it was "cured" it was eventually forgotten in the RIM solver.

I keep my thumbs pressed that'll see a patch before Version 2016 of Moldflow.

Conclusion:

Fast and very reactive response on my problem, but so far without a workable solution.

Best regards

Harald
