Material properties

Hi,

When running an analysis in abaqus through moldflow I change the material properties to User Material with Mechanical constant 1. If i have understood it correctly MSA maps the material properties to Abaqus in every Gauss point in the mesh. In the abaqus input file i can then see a change like this:

Abaqus analysis:

** MATERIALS
**
*Material, name=Polymer
*Density
900.,
*Elastic
 1e+09, 0.3

Abaqus analysis with MSA:

** MATERIALS
**
*Material, name=Plast
*expansion, user, type=ORTHO
*User Material, constants=1
1.,
*user defined field
*initial conditions, type = field, variable=1
*initial conditions, type = field, variable=2
*initial conditions, type = field, variable=3
*initial conditions, type = field, variable=4
*initial conditions, type = stress, user
**

So my question is:

Do MSA generate a textfile that makes it possible to see what material data MSA maps to abaqus in every gauss point?

Or is it possible to generate such a file?

Regards

Henrik

Hi,
AMSA reads a Moldflow properties binary interface file.
AMSA does not generate a text file with properties when running job, neither one can be created.
It maps the Moldflow properties binary interface file to Abaqus model, when running the job.

What can be suggested to get some information on mechanical properties:
One can look at mechanical properties information in Moldflow user interface Synergy.
The result can be exported to XML or patran format.

Hi,

I want to do a structure analysis in Abaqus of a polymer part.

Is there any way for me to add placticity to the material properties?

As i understand it AMSA2012 only maps the elasticity module, shear module and poissions ratio and residual stresses.

So i was hoping to see the material files and modify them by adding plasticity to the model. But since that cant be done, is there any other way to add plasticity to the linear moldflow modell? Either in moldflow or in abaqus?

As I see it linear elastic material models are seldom used for polymers.

Henrik
