How to connect 3D hot runner to part automatically?

Hello.

I'm building a full 3D (tetra) model composed of 6 CAD bodies for a Cool(FEM)+Fill analysis: mold block, 2 mold inserts, one heater, part and hot runner. I've tried several meshing options, including changing the order by which I assign properties or mesh the bodies, but in the end the tetras from the hot runner aren't connected to the tetras in the part, so no flow path is available.

How can I automatically connect the 3D hot runner to the part body? What's the workflow to build this kind of model? The Global Merge function acts on all entities, visible or not, so if I use it it connects everything in the model. Merging nodes one by one isn't an option...

Thank you.

Regards,

Carlos

Option -1

===========

1. You need to connect the hot runner mesh( in Dual domain mesh)+ cad part (dual domain) mesh as one single body by deleting overlapping elements of hot runner and part elements

2. then convert them in to 3d mesh.

3. then assign property of hotrunner elements and part elements to respective element.

Option -2

===========

If there is gap between hotrunner and part..connect with a suitable  beam element

Option -3

===========

1. Import part and hotrunner cad as a single body and mesh.

Hot runner and part should be modelled as one body.

It is not ideal to mesh 2 separate bodies and then merge, because elements in the merged region can be very poor.

xusho,

Every option is feasible, but decision should be taken depends on you,

how you are meshing as well as how you are connecting the both the part.

Increase mesh desnsity by manually or automatic option at gate region.
