Gate Freeze time

Hi,

Normally if we use cold runner  we will give packing time based on the gate freeze time . if we use hot runner how to calculate the packing time

Hi Prabu,

in your case, I would do 2 things:

1) Make a cut section (if you have a 3D model) observing the temperature (at translation temp) / frozen layer fraction of the area near the gate location (assuming this gate location is optimized), this will give you an idea of when the effective packing is finished because the nominal wall near the gate is frozen.

2) Take the result Total Part weight -XY Plot- (is not on default results) and locate the time when the part weight shows no more variation. This will also tell you when the effective packing time has finished.

Good luck!

Hello Prabhu,

You can select 'Temperature' plot, Go to its Plot properties>Materials tab>Contour>Single Contour>Enter (Transition Temperature of the material you are using as Contour Value).

Scaling as per frame & visualize this animation, you need to see a point of time when material flow through gate to part is disconnected, this will be your Gate freeze time.

Give it a try.

Best regards,

Mayur.
