external heat ransfer coeff - Air ?? What parameter

HI everybody,

new question?

in 3d you can set up a mold block and set external heat transfer coeff. Standard ist Air. But what value is Air?

Does anbybody know?

So everybody,

I got some Infos:

not moving air : 2 W/m^2K

Room air :  5 W/m^2K

slight air movement: 10 W/m^2K ( I think this is passive convection)

stronger air movement: 20 - 40 W/m^2K (active convection)

But I still would like to know what parameter MOldflow uses for calculation when I set it to AIR.

Hope somebody knows.

Greetings Philipp

Hi Philipp,

regarding the Mold Block (3D) Air property:
Air uses the ambient temperature in the process controller (default is 25C).
You can change it at:
Process Settings > Advanced Options...
Process Controller : Edit...
tab Temperature Control

The Heat Transfer Coefficient, HTC, for Mold Block (3D) Air property is with the value of 10W/m2-C.

Regards,
Berndt
