Data considered in genearting volumetric shriankge plot

Dear All,

I would Like to know,

When Moldflow flow analysis results generates volumetric shrinkage plot,

Does it purely based on PVT data of material or it does consider both moleculer oreintation
& fiber orientation data of material also ?

Thanks & Regards,

Hi,

The volumetric shrinkage calculation is not directly influenced by the fiber orientation; remember, this is 'volumetric' shrinkage.

For a fiber filled material, the orientation of the fibers does influence how the 'volumetric shrinkage' is distributed. In the dominant fiber direciton, you will see less shinkage, than perpendicular to the fiber direction. You will see this after a warpage analysis is performed.

I hope this helps
