Hello,
I would like to run a overmolding analysis, but the item being overmolded is a assembly with a couple components.
As one part moves during the overmolding, the other components must move too.
They are different materials, so I cant join then into one body.
How do I set the contact between the inserts?
Let me know if more detailed information is needed.
Thanks in advance,
Kazuo
Well, the core (insert) shift has limited capabilities on assembkies. The bodies have to have common nodes. One common node ascts like a spherical joint, common nodes on a straight line act as a cylindrical joint while three or more nodes not on a straight line act as weld between bodies. The bodies can be of different materials in 3D analysis (all products), in 2.5D (midplane or surface cavities the different materials over "cores" are only supported in 2015 Scandium or 2016 version of Moldflow Insight.
Hello Alex,
Thanks for the reply.
Looks like your solution is exactly what I want. 😃
One more question,
How do I do to get the bodies with common nodes? global merge?
Thanks again,
1. concider all other parts as a part insert. assign different material for inserts as required ... metal or polymer
2. Do overmoulding analysis
