I have never used Moldflow Insight before.
Someone asked me how to change the orientation of an imported stl file.
I could easily do this in Inventor Tooling using the Moldflow functionality built into Inventor Tooling.
or
I could easily do this in Inventor before exporting to stl, but it surely there is a way to reorient in Moldflow?
What is the proceedure?

If you use the Ribbon interface:
Choose Mesh/Mesh Repair/Orient Elemnt
Choose elements to flip orientation, ensure the radiobutton is on Flip Orientation and Press "Apply" button
In the Classic interface the same tool is under Mesh/Mesh Tools/Orient Elements
Hi,
to reorient a stl geometry in Synergy (Moldflow UI), Ribbon style:
Geometry > Move
This is the Move/Copy command to reorient a geometry in different ways:
Translate, Rotate, 3 Points Rotate, Scale, Reflect
A defintion in Insight/Adviser:
The Z-axis is the mold opening/closing direction, the clamp force direction.
And XY-plane, the plane of projection for clamp force calculation.
If you use Inventor and Autodesk Moldflow 2012, you can also install Autodesk Moldflow Design Link 2012, and you can import the geometry to Synergy (Moldflow UI) as .ipt, .sat, .iam with no additional license required.

Berndt
Thanks, that got it.
