API to calculate flow length

Hello guys,

Anybody has such a script to calculate flow length between 2 nodes? Mannual measuring is time wasting and inaccurate.

This will help us a lot when initial design of gate numbers and location.

Best Regards!

Hello, Can you tell me why do you measure the flow length between 2 nodes????

Hope you explian in details.Thanks

For instantaneous and functional reply you have to exemplify why you are going to measure this value and what is the handy criterion in the wake of it. As per my knowledge Moldflow doesn’t have any automatic option to calculate flow length between two nodes. If is there any such option then I requested to our seniors to provide information.

I know Moldflow has no such function, that's why I asked for a script.

Hi,

what can be suggested is to create a script such as:

- select nodes in the order of the estimated way and length to be calculated

- do a node to node distance calculation of this input and accumulate distances to a total length

(as add-on: create lines from node to node and put on a layer to visualize the length lines)

Another way is to use a cutting plane in cad system and concatenate curve/lines and query the length.

To use two nodes in model and find the length on a mesh:

- if using a scheme to find nearest node and follow triangle edge, you can get quite a length

if a zigzag pattern across the mesh. The mesh edge length will affect the total distance.

- another way is create a scheme to find the distance across triangle edges.

To simplify by manual nodes selection along wished length is a reasonable compromise.

Berndt

Thanks a lot, Berndt. I want to this sript judge which path is the real flow path, can then calculate the flow length.
