AMI 2011 on Linux SuSE Enterprise?

Hi there. I noticed only Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 seems to be supported for AMI 2011 solvers. What about SuSE Enterprise 10.2? Will the software work? If not, is there a work around?

Hi there FV,

I have installed it on a server running SLES 9 and it seems to work fine. I think the key is the chipset and not necessarily the flavor of linux. I am using AMD Opteron chips. There used to be 2 executables for linux in previous versions, one with a name containing "il" for "itanium linux" and one with a name containing "ol" for "opteron linux". The current 2011 linux executable is "ol" so I assume that it will work with Opteron chips. I was told by tech support that the Red Hat/Opteron combination is the one that is "officially supported" but other combinations of OS & CPU are "unofficially supported", so you may not be completely out of luck. If you have AMD Opteron processors, I think you might be OK to just install the new version.
