Hello,
In one of our PBT 15% GF part the ABAQUS results are not matching with the field test.
ABAQUS predicts the deformation about 2 mm before fracture but in actual testing the deformation is more then 2 mm before fracture.
My question is if I use MSA integration with ABAQUS does the deformation results matches with the testing results.
As I understand this problem. When ABQUES (without MSA) does the simulation it considers the material as homogeneous. After we integrate MSA The ABAQUS will consider the Glass fibers also... The presence of Glass fibers make the material more rigid that means less elastic........ Then the failure will be at the lesser deformation.
I think MSA-ABAQUS results will be less then 2mm .....
Is my analysis right ?
Please suggest.
Hi,
If you push the your plastic product to failure, you have likely exceeded the linear elastic range. Moldflow is calculating the linear elastic properties and provides them through AMSA to Abaqus.
If you need non-linear mechanical properties, I would suggest you have a look at Digimat from E-xstream engineering who specialise in this.
