1st order and 2nd order elements

Dear all

Please clarify whether, elements containing midnodes(2nd order elements) can be imported in moldflow from Hypermesh using .nas

1st order elements are normal element (ex: tria with only 3 nodes, tetra with only 4 nodes)

2nd order elements are with midnodes (ex: tria with only 6 nodes, tetra with only 10 nodes)

If we export mesh data and material properties from moldflow to ANSYS or ABAQUS, automatically 1st order elements are converted to 2nd order elements?

Regards

JK

Hi,
the elements in Synergy modeled is 3-nodes triangle or 4-nodes tetrahedral element.
So those elements can be imported.

Exporting to tetras using mpi2abq to Abaqus, midside nodes will be added.
Exporting to tetras using mpi2ans to Ansys, midside nodes will be added.
This is reported in command window screen output running the commands.

Regards,
Berndt
