1D, 2D, 2.5D and 3D mesh

Dear all,

What are the different mesh terminology used in moldflow.

1D - Beam elements (boss, feed and cooling system)

2D - Triangular elements on midsurface (Midplane mesh)

2.5D - Triangular elements on Surface (Dual domain or fusion mesh)

3D - Tetras (3D mesh or volume mesh)

Is it OK to refer the dual domain mesh as 2.5D mesh?

Please share your views.

Regards

JK

Hi

I guess, the mesh terminology in moldflow are

1D - Beam elements (boss, feed and cooling system)
2.5D - Triangular elements with thickness assigned (Midplane and Dual domain also called surface mesh)
3D - Tetras (3D mesh also called volume mesh)

Please share your views if my understanding is correct.

Regards

Ramesh

Ramesh's response is correct. There is no 2D analysis.
