Surface thickness

Surface thickness

One can set the thickness of a surface model by either "part based" or "surface based". Since Algor to 2015, change from "part based" to "surface based" defaults all values to zero.  Each value has to be enterered separately.  This can be very tiresome

A simple and very helpful modification to the UI would be for the "part based" values to be copied to every surface when the model was changed from "part based" to "surface base".  (Offered a choice?).   This would allow the option for inputting the most common value and then editing the others rather than inputting every thickness and normal point.  For example, one model I am working on has 31 surfaces.  3 surfaces are one thickness, 3 surfaces are another thickness, 25 surfaces are another thickness.  Editing 6 values would be quicker than entering 31 values.

You can change property of multiple surface by one time by selectin whole list of surface that you need. So thats a not big problem for applying thickness to 25 surface.

There are one problem with model with big numbers of part/surface - time that you need to wait when something change

Or also, having a communication between the surface number on the element data and the displaying of it on the graphical area...and now you can only work with surface ID (and so you should know it!!) without any grahical cheking

It's sept 22, a newbie doing complex open spline lofting for propellers & wings having trouble adding thickness for 3d-printing as they don't translate into stl's as a solid so missing something there.

Or ...

I tried offset yet clueless on how to convert that to a solid so ref's & url's to how-to's very timely assuming it's simple just can't find an answer.

thx, tom
