IMPORT 3D SKETCHES FROM INVENTOR

IMPORT 3D SKETCHES FROM INVENTOR

Some time you have a skeleton from FrameGenerator that you need to analyze more deep than Frame Analysis.

It would be very useful to send a part to SIM MECH that contains 2D or 3D Sketches.

Then at Sim Mech, uses beam elementos to simplify the modelling....

Thanks.

Dear Jorge,

It's not a perfect solution, but you can allready save a lot of time if you export your sketches to DWG and import them into Sim Mech. See this video: http://a360.co/1oRgj0a

Thanks for your video.

I know that,  it works, but it breaks your workflow when you carry down to dwg file.

Anyway, this is the Idea station, not a competition.

This funcationality really needs to be added.

We do a lot of models that are a combination of surface and beam elements.

It's a real hassel to export a serarate dxf, open in Sim and merge with the surface model.

We use a couple of the workarounds at the moment. One is crate a surface and split it where you want those beams to be, then when it meshes in SIM delete all the lines but the ones you want. The other it to create workpoints at the beam element endpoints and have Sim import them as Construction Verticies. You can then manually draw the lines in Simulation.

Please change the status to Accepted, these software packages should be able to communicate better.
