What's the difference among .step, .ach and .fem?

I start doing tutorials of Autodesk Simulation Multiphysics. Sometimes, it ask me to ope a .ach file; sometimes, .step file, etc. So, what's the difference among them?

.step only includes CAD information.

After importing .step file into FemEditor, you can get .fem file and several others, in which there are more FEA information involved.

A typical ASIM model includes one .fem file and one .ds_data folder, such as myModel.fem and myModel.ds_data.

.fem file contains most of model information, but not all.

In order to pack all necessary information together, you need a .ach file, which is an archive file in zip format.
