Hi Simulators!!!!
Is there a part in Autodesk Simulation Mechanical program which shows the result of sum of three principal stresses (S1+S2+S3) to be compared against ASME VIII Div 2 Section 5.3 requirement (Allowable of 4S). As of now I'm just manually doing it at a node that shows the Maximum Principal Stress and just add it manually for that particular node. It would be convenient if there's a part of the program for this type of result which covers all nodes and show the maximum result.
Many Thanks....Cheers!!!!

Hi Tibor,
I don't think there is a button for those results in Sim Mech. However, the custom results tool should be able to add up the three values and display it as a contour plot. With that, you can directly probe the sum of the stresses directly.
A few things to note, the custom results need to be viewed using the legacy UI. To disable the ribbon, go to Tools > Application Options > General Information and uncheck Ribbon style. You can then view the results. I hope Autodesk fixes this soon as it has been a known issue for quite some time.

Ilyas
Sorry, if it is a bit late.
But yes, you can create those values using "Others results"---> "Custom result".
create a function for sigma 1 other for sigma 2 and another for sigma 3, then create another function that does the adition.. and that is it.
here how:
Name: S1 // Value: Stress //Operations: Maximum Principal//Type: Scalar // defined at:Element-nodal//Units: N/(mm^2)
Name: S2 // Value: Stress //Operations: Intermedialte Maximum //Type: Scalar // defined at:Element-nodal//Units: N/(mm^2)
Name: S1 // Value: Stress //Operations: Minimum Principal//Type: Scalar // defined at:Element-nodal//Units: N/(mm^2)
S1+S2+S3
