Stop: contact walls not permited

Hello ,

What does it mean? I perform a drop test with the same parameters over an over again just different models.

Sometimes i get the message in the subject. is there an explanation?

Thanks,

Dan

It sounds like the MES analysis is configured to use "small displacement" theory for the calculations. (Small displacements problems are usually linear in nature; hence the message about "not permitted in linear...".)  Since you have an impact plane in the analysis, the MES solver assumes you are doing some kind of drop test which implies large displacement and motion.

So, go to the Element Definition for each part and change the "Analysis Type" drop-down from "Small Displacement" to "Large Displacement".

If a majority of your MES analyses requires large displacements or nonlinear effects, use the "Tools: Options: Analysis" tab and set the "Use large displacement as default for nonlinear analyses" option to set the "Analysis Type" default to large displacement.
