Select beam elements by layer in results environment

I’m working on a beam element model where I have just 1 part defined with several beam cross sections defined as different layers.  Is there a way in the results environment to select a beam based on its layer number (cross section)?  I’m looking for something like “layer control” in the results environment but I don’t see it.

Hi Steve,

The layer number does not exist in the Results environment, but there is something similar that may work in your case.

  1. In the browser, locate the branch named "Filter Modules".
  2. Right-click on the branch, then choose "Add Selection Filter > Beam Cross Section ID". This will let you enter a range of IDs that you want to find. It may be that the section ID is the same as the layer number. Or it could be that the section IDs are sequential whereas the layer numbers do not need to be sequential. Or it could be some other rule.
  3. Set the selection type to elements ("Selection > Select > Elements").
  4. Make the selection.
