meshing fails

I am using Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2012 on a Dell T7500 64bit Windows 7 desktop computer.

I have a model that will mesh when I set the Mesh Size toward the corse end at 140 and 190, but when i attempt to mesh at the default of 100 i get an error in red text. I need a finner mesh than I am getting with the corse settings.

An error has forced meshing to stop

An error occured.

Region: ecrt_SurfaceMesh_SurfaceInvoke

Type: eht_SEH

Additional information 1: 0xc0000005

Additional information2:

The part was not meshed

After that, wehn I attempt another mesh I get the following message:

"The mesh engine disconnected and forced meshing to stop"

Can anyone tell me what is going on, and is there some way to prevent this from happening?

Thanks you,

Jay

You can try the following options:

Option 1. Uncheck the option "Use virtual imprint" under "Model Mesh Settings" dialog -> "Model" tab.

This is likely to resolve the error. The downside will be you might have less perfectly matched mesh between parts, which could still be sufficent for analysis.

Optin 2. Turn off "Use VCAD" and uncheck the option "Automatically refine surface mesh" under "Model Mesh Settings" dialog -> "Model" tab.
