MES - Pressurized pipe analysis

Hi

I'm analyzing the beviour of a PVC pipe with an inlaid metal coil using MES. In the model the pressure ramps from 0-3MPa over one second. I ran a preliminary run on a long section of pipe and the analysis ran well and produced reasonable resutls. I then tried a different pitch on the metal coil and a shorter span, and the results were non-sense. See the attached figures.

Any thoughts? I used the same setup and a very similar CAD model.

Thanks,
Shannon

My guess is that the mesh does not match between the two parts. Examine visually, or perform a static stress analysis to see if the model is adequately constrained with just a constraint on one part.

I agree that the mesh betwenn different parts are not matched.  You can remesh the model with the default contact setting of "Bonded".
