Hi,
does the integration order also increase accuracy (that you could use for p-method) or does it simply prevent Locking?
So does ASIM use higher order polynomial shape functions or does it only refer to some special integration type like reduced integration?

The meaning of integration order could change case by case.
Let's focus on MES brick element.
For a regular elastic analysis, the second order integration is good enough for accuracy and performance. But for some case, such as elasto-plastic material model, the stress status in one element could be complicated. Some integration point might goes into plastic status, while others are still elastic. In this case, higher order integration might be helpful.
For shell and beam elements, integration is much more complicated.
I am using a linear static analysis and brick elements.
So the integration order does not affect the shape functions?
Shape functions are pretty fixed. What you can select is the integration order.
I think LSS is insensitive with integration order.
Do you know any model showing problems here?
