Installation language

I'd like to know how to install Simulation Mechanical 2015 in English on a computer running an Italian operating system (Windows7-64bit), since I have always installed and used this software in English language.

In the installation menu of Simulation Mechanical 2015 I don't find where the selection of the language can be done.

I have installed the product hoping to find under Options the possibility to switch the language, but I haven't find anything.

I have also downloaded and installed <Autodesk Simulation Mechanical English 2015 Win 64> instead of <Autodesk Simulation Mechanical English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese 2015 Win 64> but the product still installs in the Italian language.

Thank you in advance.

Regards

G. Barozzi

Hi G.Barozzi,

Simulation Mechanical 2015 will automatically detect the language based on your Windows regional settings. If you want to change this you will need to create a Windows environment variable called, ALGOR_LOCALE_OVERRIDE and set the value to ENU. Please note by using this override variable it will also affect your number format settings such that input will follow the US standard. You can read more about this in our online help system article about the Simulation Mechanical user interface.

Hello Yudika,

the windows variable needs to be made as suggested by @Andrew.Sartorelli.

Depending on your Operating System, you could refer to pages such as http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000549.htm.

For Windows 8 &10, follow Steps 1-4 under "Setting the path and variables in Windows 8 and Windows 10" in the link above.

For Windows 7, follow Steps 1-3 under "Setting the path and variables in Windows Vista and Windows 7" in the link above.

You then click on "New" in the "User Variable for  XYZ" or "System Variable"  and add the new Windows Variable "ALGOR_LOCALE_OVERRIDE". Set the "Variable value" to the interface language you wish Sim. Mech. to be in.

German DEU
English ENU
French FRA
Italian ITA
Japanese JPN
Simplified Chinese CHS

As suggested by @Andrew.Sartorelli, please refer to the details under the "MultiLanguage Support" in the Sim. Mech. Manual. A screenshot of the text from the Sim. Mech 2017 manual is shown below for ease of reference.

I hope the above information helps.
