I can not open Ansys mesh file!!!

I am using FEMPRO V23.1. When I try to open a CDB file, the following text in a pop-up menu sgows up:

Algor (R) FEA Translation Utility
Version 23.00-WIN 31-OCT-2008
Copyright (c) 2008, ALGOR, Inc. All rights reserved. ALGOR, Inc. All rights reserved.

FEMPRO ASD2FEM File Generator
Version 23, 00, 00, 0132
Copyright (c) 2008, ALGOR, Inc. All rights reserved.

Input File : C:\path\xxx.cdb
Output File : C:\path\xxx.fem
Design Scenario: 1
** Creating FEM file [C:\path\xxx.fem]

** Reading Nodes
** Reading Elements
** Reading Nodal Conditions
ModelDbf2Fem::Import(C:\path\xxx.asd, C:\path\xxx.fem)
Opening FEM file C:\path\xxx.fem...
Clearing tables...
Opening AGSDB database C:\path\...
Importing Linear Loads...
Global data is not imported in this version - skipping...
Part 0 is marked incomplete - skipping...
Part 1 is marked incomplete - skipping...
Closing FEM file...
ModelDbf2Fem::Import complete.

** Created FEM file [C:\path\xxx.fem]

Everything seems OK till this point. However, there is nothing imported in the program. Any idea?

Best regards,
Mehmet

Mehmet,

I see that you have also forwarded this issue to Algor's technical support, who will address this issue. I see from your log file that the model contains part information for parts "0" and "1" and both of those parts are incomplete and therefore are skipped. I think it is for this reason that no model geometry appears in Algor. I would suggest to work with technical support so that more information can be gathered so that this issue can be addressed.

Hello,

I have been struggling with the same issue, starting with a >1000 shell element mesh and ending with a single quad element without success. Unfortunately, the LDD file does not help a lot to find the problem. What I did notice is that for the NBLOCK command, your translator is not reading the Format description but assuming that nodes come as integer 8 columns format.

Do you guys have someone working on the Ansys translation program? Based on below post, it seems like an old issue. I believe with Nastran you have the opportunity to bring Ansys customers to Autodesk but for that to happen, it is critical being able to read their models. I have access to Ansys 15 and would gladly help you testing your improvements for this feature.
