Fully modeled bolted connection with preloaded in non linear analysis

Hi,

I am new to non linear analysis and I want simulate a bolted spur gear.

The bolts are preloaded, but I don't know how realize the preaload.

In the linear analysis I use a shrink/slide contact between the bolts and the surface of the spur gear. I use the calculated misalignent of the bolts and the spurgear.

I also want to apply the resulting forces of the wheel to the model.

Does anyone has a hint how I could realize the preaload with fully modeled bolt?

Thanks in advance,

Mo

If you model the bolts as "Mesh > CAD Additions > Bolt", you can specify the preload.

If you are modeling the bolts as solids, you would do in MES the equivalent of what you did in linear: you use surface to surface contact and create an interference by specifying that the distance at which contact occurs is larger than the gap between the parts. Search the help for "interference" and take a look at the page titled "Advanced Controls".
