Fluid Flow Symmetry

Hi,

I am currently running a fluid flow analysis through a circular pipe. The model is 3D with half symmetry applied (180° model). If I have an inlet velocity of 1m/second for the whole 360° model, what velocity value do I apply to the 180° half symmetry model?

Please use plain text.

If you are saying that the inlet velocity is a uniform 1 m/s across the entire inlet face, then you can specify a velocity of 1 m/s. This is independent of whether you have the entire 360 degrees modeled or any fraction.

Perhaps you were thinking about the flow rate in which you would need to apply half of the total flow rate to a half symmetry model. ;-)

Excellent!

Thanks John.

I just wanted a check on it before I ran the full model.
