Error when Contact then Separation

Hello,

Autodesk Simulation 2013 Mechanical - MES with Non-Linear Materials

I have two rods with an initial gap. A pressure function pushes one rod into the other, both are axially free to displace. The first rod is limited in it's motion by a collar. When Rod 1 stops moving by the collar, Rod 2 carries on.

The whole simulation works great until they separate. I get an astronomically high stress in the contact surfaces when they separate. (very simple, 2 flat surfaces at the end of the rods) It's like they were stuck together, but they do separate.

The contact pair is:

High Speed Contact

Frictionless Contact

Automatic Contact type

The 'No Bounce' box is checked but greyed out. There doesn't seem to be any way to un-grey it. I'm not sure if that's my issue. I've tried altering/refining the mesh to no avail

Ideas?
