DOS Command for Database Translation

Hi,

I would like to manage the database translation with DOS command.

firstly I made a test successfully with the Database Translation Utility. I translated the database in CSV files. I modified all CSV files and I translated those files into dbf files.

Now I would like to perform those translation with DOS command.

I translated the DBF files into CSV files with this DOS command:

“C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Algor Simulation 2012\Alg_dbxl.exe” “C:\Users\Damien\Desktop\Test Yoke\Yoke.ds_data\1\ds.asd” 4 –silent –log=”C:\Users\Damien\Desktop\Test Yoke\DBTranslation.log”

I modified all CSV files and I would like to convert those files in .dbf files. When I used the database translation utility (please look the attachment file) the translation worked

But all DOS command I tested didn’t work.

If somebody could give me the good DOS command, I will be very happy.

Tkanks in advance

Hi,

Unfortunately, the command line options do not work. Can you elaborate on what you are trying to do by editing the model databases directly? Perhaps there is an alternate way to accomplish the same goal.

Hi @ all,

let me ask if the translation via command line is working in Simulation Mechanical 2013? And can anyone show me an example?

When I translate to a csv-file the headers of the columns are missing. Can anyone tell me the columns in the different csv-files?

Kind regards

Stefan Ladisch

Hi @all,

I want to bring up this question again, because I can't find any information about the order of the columns in the csv file. Can anyone tell me?

Best Regards

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

The best way to get the column headers is to

  1. Start Microsoft Excel
  2. Do the "File > Open".
  3. Set the "file type" to be "dBase files (*.dbf)"
  4. Surf to the design scenario folder for the model, and then into the ds.mod folder.
  5. Pick the database whose header you want to find out.
  6. The first line of the spreadsheet will be the column headers.
