define anisotropic material

Does Mold Flow create and/or predict anisotropic material properties from the injection molding process?  Can that information be imported into Simulation?  Do you know of any Simulation tutorials showing how to input the 21 elastic coefficients of the stiffness matrix of the anisotropic material model?

Thanks,

Andy

Hi Andrew,

Moldflow calculates anisotropic material properties in two situations:

  1. for fiber filled material
  2. for unfilled material when shrinkage data is available

The mechanical properties can be fetched from Moldflow for use in the Autodesk Simulation analysis by setting the material model to "Moldflow". For more information, see the Help ("Help > Autodesk Simulation > Setting Up and Performing the Analysis > Setting Up Part 1 > Multiphysics: Use Results in Another Analysis > Injection Molded Parts: Material Properties From Autodesk Moldflow") or the equivalent page on the Help Wiki.
