Crush Analysis

This is a crush test, i want to know the behavior of the plastic part(which is in middle).

The plastic part is placed between two rigid flat steel plates and the upper plate is subjected to a load of 22000 N while the lower plate is contrained(fixed).

Which type of analysis will be suitable for this crush test.

1. Static with linear materials.

2. Static with non-linear materials.

3. MES with non linear materials.

Note:

Material : Valox 357U (Plastic)

Please suggest which type/way can i carry out this simulation?cap_1.JPG

I would use MES with non-linear material model. FYI MES stands for mechanical event simulation. If you want to simulate crushing then when you will certainly be after the yield point of stress strain curve of your material - therefore you need to use nonlinear material model simulation.

Since the model is symmetric, I would like to recommend 1/4 or 1/2 of the model is used for simulation.  In this case, the symmetric boundary conditions can make the model more stable for better convergence.
