Exchange formats 3DSMax to Simulation CFD?

Hello

I am currently investigating to see if Simulation CFD could be good enough for an air flow simulation I have to run based on a model made in 3dsmax (no way to model it in another 3rd party). Listing 3dsmax export formats and Simulation CFD import formats, I can't find anything that matches.

Does anyone already tried this or knows what could be the bridge?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I think there may be a way, although not just one direct step. We have tested it and it is not very stable but seems to be the only way we have right now.

Ideally you need to achieve a solid model either parasolid, step or acis, then you can read this directly into CFD.

3ds Max Design=>export STL

=>Inventor=>Convert from STL to surface with Mesh Enabler(Labs)=>SimCFD

Kind regards,

Jon
