Hi,
There is an error message when I save a Solidworks Assembly as a Solidworks Part and I launch the Part in Sim CFD. The model is able to open but I see an error message.
"The 2D model is either non-planar or it is not on the Z=0 Plane. Modify the CAD geometry to ensure that the 2D geometry is planar and that its Z coordinate is 0."
It is able to open the Solidworks Assembly with no error messages.
Normal Solidworks Parts do not have this error message.
May I ask why this is so?

Hi Kaiwei,
Is the 2D part on the x-y plane? Also, if you are using the axisymmetric function in CFD, it must also lie on either the x or y axis as you will use this as the axis of rotation.
Personally I always ensure the model begins on one of both of these axes anyway.
Kind regards,
Jon
i agree with Jon here. Your assembly may have the part mated to the XY plane (i.e Z=0 offset), whereas when you saved the part it may be either offset from the XY plane by some distance (i.e. Z > 0) or it is planar to some other coordinate plane YZ, XZ.
