I am having trouble in using Extrude mesh for one of the models I am doing.
Please have a look at the attached sketch.
Part #4 and #7 are long pipes, with no major gradients, and I want to use Extrude mesh for these. Beware that the axis of part #7 is no along -Y direction but is inclined at 45 deg. to -Y in XY plane.
Here, I can use extrude mesh to part #4, but not to part #7. I tried using sweep and extrusion both to create #7.
The model conforms to all "Extrusion Guidelines" documented on wiki.

Can someone help please?
Without extrusion the mesh cell-count will increase significantly.

There is no reason why this should not work, although I have seen this occur before, with no explanation. Have you tried modelling Part 7 again?
Yes, I tried extrusion and sweep both and retried. No luck!
Without extrude, the cell-count explodes in those long extensions. This limits the refinement degree at the core region of interest.
BTW, I use multibody modelling to create the flow domain and create solids out of the features in the part model. Then I export these solids as parts into assembly using "Make Components". I don't individually create the parts and then assemble them. This is a more efficient way. Don't know if this information is of any use though.

Actually, it would be better to have the CAD, so a 'Pack And Go' from Inventor would be perfect!
