Hi,
We recently tried running a simulation with the same CAD model and setup between a Dell Precision T7600 (workstation) and an ASUS g55vw (gaming laptop). For a comparison, we started the simulations file at the same time. After 30 mins, the Dell T7600 was at 13 iterations vs the ASUS g55vw at 75 iterations.
1. The workstation took over 10 mins to prepare model for solving. It gets stuck at volume meshing for a long time. The gaming laptop finished it in a few minutes.
2. The workstation takes over another 10 mins for the first iteration, while the gaming laptop starts in a few minutes.
Alternatively, the ASUS g55vw takes only less than 5 mins to start the simulation.
We have updated the NVIDIA graphic card drivers to the latest ones but the setup is still slow.
Is there a reason for the discrepancy in the performance?
What are the other specs of these machines?
CPU and RAM?
KaiWei,
As Jon mentioned can you list the specifics of these machines as a T7600 can have a range of CPU's
What CPU (# physical cores) / RAM / harddrive is in each of the two machines?
Did you use the same file between the two or did you manually try to make a similar analysis?
Typically I would run the model on Machine A and then take the support sharefile to Machine B and run it there.
If you look at the Summary file we will detail the timing of each of the segments for performance tracking
Input Time
Analysis Time
Output Time
Where you should see the desktop (depending on the specs) excel would be in the Analysis Time.
