Mental Ray Satellite for Windows is at version 3.9.1.36 while on Mac it's 3.9.1.43 ... and the two don't play well together?!?

I'm trying to get mental ray satellite for maya working.

I have a MacBook Pro, a Mac Pro, and a Win7 box. I've installed mental ray satellite on all three, disabled the firewalls (which doesn't make me happy but is the only way I could seem to get raysat to work at all), and I've brought Maya2012 up to SP2, and downloaded the latest MR-Sat patch. (Why is Autodesk so bad at indicating what version you're downloading? Usually, when you're dealing with software this complex to set-up, the developer will not only list the version number, but even a nightly build number.)

Anyway, after several false starts (because a lot of the Mac documentation is riddled with typos and is just plain wrong), I finally managed to get raysatd on my MacPro (host ip 10.0.1.100) to accept jobs. But raysatd on Windows (host ip 10.0.1.112) seems to be choking on protocol. (See console output below.)

raysat on my win7 box reports version 3.9.1.36, while raysat on mac reports 3.9.1.43. Has the patch I downloaded from Autodesk failed to take for some reason? Can anyone verify whether these version numbers are indeed the most current?
