Mental Ray disappeared from rendering options

Title says it all. When I look at my rendering options, Mental Ray is nowhere to be found. Used to be there. Now it isn't.

???

Still using my Maya2012 student version, but I do not see why that should be a problem.

Have you confirmed that the Mayatomr plugin is installed?
Check in Window->settingsand preferences->pluginmanager

Different location, but yes, I do see that file.

Again, Mental Ray has been available before, so I do not know why it isn't available now.

Sometime Maya behave like that, Open new maya and and then go to your prefrences and check mentalRay is there or not , it will be named as "MayatoMr" . and then check in your render using software mental ray is there or not , may be it will work for you .
