I am currently having an issue with my entire team's copies of Maya 2016 with Service Pack 4 installed. When trying to light link, we are receiving the following error when light linking:
// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2016/scripts/others/relationshipEditor.mel line 725: No object matches name: shaderBallGeom1
I have figured out that the error only exists when your hypershade is active. When using Light Centric, the relationship editor just will not save any changes you make to your light linking. When using Object Centric, it seems to save relationships, but it is extremely buggy and seems to select/deselect the list at random.
Once you close the hypershade, all issues seem to go away and everything works perfectly fine. While that is work-around, I'd really only like that to be a temporary solution. I have tried repairing installations, re-installing completely, and have tried a variety of scenes ranging from some of our more complicated ones, down to a brand new scene with two lights and two cubes.
If anyone has any idea on how to permanently resolve this issue without having to just simply close the hypershade when lighting, that would be much appreciated.
