how to access rendering meta-data

Is there a way to see how long it took to do a mental ray render?

Hi. If it's just a single frame and need to know the last frame rendered, hit Render again, and it should show the Last Frame Time in the Rendering Progress window. You can hit Esc to exit if you don't want to keep rendering.

If you want a report of the rendering time, then go to Customize > Preferences > Rendering Tab:

-Check "Show/Log Information"(Progess and Debug are optional)

-Check "Write Messages to File"

-Choose the directory where you want the log file to be stored and name it to match your scene file.

Once finished rendering, you can open the file. The default suffix of the log file will be named [yourfilename]_Production.log. Notepad should open it without a problem. Locate the line towards the end of the file where it says "wallclock  0:00:00.00 for rendering." This is your render time.

One other place you can find the time of the last rendered frame is under File->Properties->Summary Info
