So in Maya 2014, if I create a poly sphere and create a nHair system, the hairs disappear when I do a play blast. Is this normal, I can't remember? I tried the same thing in maya 2015 and it renders fine using play blast. So I'm thinking perhaps there is a setting I'm just not aware of in 2014.
yes, I tried that earlier and that fixed the problem. There was something in my prefs folder that was causing the issue so I had to rebuild my prefs again by deleting them and restarting maya.
