I have a simple scene, that used a Vecor Map (A .ai file)... I used scanline and turn on "include Maps" while submitting to network rendering...
The Map is missing on render nodes 😞
Can anyone confirm? Is it a known bug?
This bug is confirmed and tracked as CaseNo: 10119844
The Bug is still alive with max 2015 SP3 and using mental ray 😞
It still doesn't work in 2016. I guess they don't want to fix it? It doesn't matter the renderer, whenever you use a vector map and render with backbunrer or even (in my case) vray distributed rendering, it fails to load the vector map on the other machines. Lame.
Figured this one out. DON'T just copy your .ai or .svg vector file to the maps folder on your rendering machines. That doesn't work in this case. If you link to a central location that all machines can access then it works just fine.
I usually just copy all the maps files used in my scene to all the autodesk/3dsmax/maps folders via mapped drives. I actually have a custom util to do this automatically. It just so happensa the Vector Map doesn't check that folder if it can't find the .ai or .svg file. Linking to it from a central locations does the trick.
Hope that helps someone.
