When i want to define load , i , till now , have 2 methods to do this :
1- Define a cladding on the side area of story and define wind load as surface load.
2- Define wind load on the floor of the story as line load or even concentrated load , ( with the theory of stiffnes , this load transmit to the walls and columns ) ,
in every case , there are different straining actions on walls and columns !!
what is correct method to do this for correct modeling ?
I would say that it's up to you deside where to apply the loads according to what represents better the reality. Personaly I prefer claddings (surface load) for this kind of loads with some considerations. For example in a steel frame with vertical bracings I would include beam-columns and exclude vertical bracings from wind load....
i ask , why the straining actions are different ?
the resultant force in case of surface and case of linear is the same ! and the straining actions are different !
