STEEL DESIGN ASD 1989 SLENDER SECTION

Hello,

I noticed on the steel design check using ASD 1989 9th edition that the calculated allowable stress is very low. I did a quick calculations and the allowable stresses should be way higher than the calculated values.

The section is a T-section with b=20mm , hw=140mm, tw=6.4mm and tf=6.4mm

I think RSA calculated Q wrongly as per file attached..please check.

and if that is a bug, how to overwrite this value to properly design the rest of the members?

Thanks

Have you tried to use the latest version of ASD?

I am checking a Rig that was designed for API 4F, so I have to check it against the ASD 1989 9th edition, so it will be great if you fix that bug.

I will manually check the ASD code check in the 13th edition and will let you know.

Thanks.
