slabs definition in modal analysis

when running modal analysis which is more accurate, keep slabs as shell elements or define it  as diaphram ?

I'm afraid this is not either or kind of question. Using a diaphragm (no mesh) you will disregard the vertical vibrations of the slabs yet if you include them you may end up with having many local modes which do not contribute much towards reaching 90% of participating masses in the horizontal directions.
