Show Only Selected Elements

Is there a way to filter what is in view - and therefore also what is controlled - by selecting the elements you want to either keep in the current view or remove from the current view?

From what I have seen, one may only filter using Stories. Is that right?

I need good documentation. Simulation Mechanical has simply everything in their help - with multicoloured tutorials, that is 🙂

You can use (Edit in new window) tool. Please find the attached file.

Or you can create groups (first jump from "Geometry" to "Groups" in Object Inspector,  select some members for example the columns of your structure and right click over the word "Groups" or "Group folder" and "Create a group out of the selection"). Then "play" with the yellow and blue light on the upper bar/tab (show active, hide active) and the lights of your groups... It's works similar to the lamps of the layers in  a cad software.

It's not the easiest and fastest way to do, but it may help in large files

you may also use the "Display attributes only for selected objects" in the "Attribute Display" dialog window. It basically shows your selection over the model rendered with ghost lines.

It is helpful if you're trying to locate a particular node or some other object.
