Revit to Robot

I'm a 3rd year student undertaking a dissertation on BIM. I have been using Revit to create a model of an existing building as part of my project and was wanting to explore the link between Revit and Structural analysis packages. However, when I use the "Integration with Robot Structural Analysis" extension, I am having a few problems.

Firstly, when the model is exported to Robot most of the element properties are not transferred. When running structure verification and error says "Bar without properties". When clicking on this, almost all of the elements in the model (apart from a few columns) have no properties. Is there any way to correct this without having to manually input the Section properties?

Secondly, there seems to be an issue with definition of stories. Despite all stories being correctly set out in Revit, they don't transfer accross to Robot.

Any help would be much appreciated as my project is almost due!

Thanks

Hi Steven,

what families were used in Revit for bars which are reported in Robot as bars without properties? When automatic mapping of sections between Revit and Robot is not possible the window of manual mapping is opened. If this window is accepted before completing manual mapping the situation like reported by you can be observed - bars transferred to Robot without properties.

Whan checking stories in Robot do you really check stories (Geometry/Stories/Stories in pull-down text menu) or structural axis (Geometry/Axis Definition in pull-down text menu)? -  because only the first ones should be automatically created in Robot during transfer from Revit.

In the first case - is the window of stories completely empty or does it contain some definition of stories but the coordinates of top levels of them are incorrect. Coordinates of story levels in Robot can be incorrect if shared coordinates were used for levels in Revit in version 2011.
