RC BEAM - bad dynamic cast error and loads transfer from slab-beam issue

Afternoon All,

I've had the following crash (refer to screenshot) when trying to design central support beam 52 in the model below. I can't find any explanation as to what is causing it and am unable to design the beam at the moment due to it. Has anyone had this pop up and know the cause?

Beam 20 in attached model - there is a large narrow void in the adjacent slab which this beam supports, however in detailed analysis the loads do not seem to be transferring to the beam, hence beam reinforcement seems light. Can anyone shed any light as to why this is happening?

Many Thanks,

Scott

Scott,

Please try the following:

1. Switch to the Geomerty layout

2. Export the beam to the RC Beam design module as shown on the attached picture

in case you still have the same error repeat steps 1 and 2 again. This time you should be able to export the beam.

The reason is some issue with update of information in the Inspector which is currently under investigation.

Hi Artur,

I've tried the steps above twice, also re-meshed the house and the same "bad dynamiccast" pop-up is appearing.

Hi Artur,

Beam 313 on the ground floor. I've tried the method of repeatedly swapping between geometry and RC provided member reinforcement design as shown in the screencast 6 times and it keeps giving the dynamic cast crash with an additional crash message afterwards, both attached.

Found a workaround. For those encountering the same problem  -

1) Try screencast steps, if it doesnt work proceed to 2.

2) Save robot file to different file name.

3) Re-mesh, re analyse all bars.

4) do NOT use the toolbar drop down box which quick switches between geometry and RC design, instead click on element, then "design - provided reinforcement of RC elements" from the main dark grey menu.

The same message in "bad dynamic cast crash 2.JPG" pops up, but atleast the members are exported to the RC member designer.

We will try to address this issue in SP3 for Robot 2013.
