Post-buckling/stiffness Analysis of Existing 3-D Truss Tower

Good afternoon.

I am working on a project which consists of an existing 3-D-truss tower which requires a structural verification given the following parameters:

  1. Need to verify the post-buckling capacity/stiffness of bracing members.

  2. Need to enforce displacements at the tower supports and verify if buckling occurs in other members.

  3. Need to apply incremented loads and verify Item 1 listed above.

  4. Need to remove existing members and understand if (1) additional members buckle and (2) will the structure redistribute the forces based on post-buckling stiffness.

I am aware that Robot is able to perform push-over analyses, elasto-plastic analyses, buckling analyses, enforced displacements, geometric non-linearity, and non-linear hinges for individual members and simple 2-D structures.  My question is, can Robot properly analyze all of the previously mentioned topics for a complex 3-D truss tower?

Please advise.

Check this:

Ad.1 In case of nonlinear model you may obtain nonconvergence in case of post-buckling behavior.

Ad.3 Try this macro and \ or modify it to your needs

Ad.4 There is no such results on information from Robot Buckling analysis which member buckle first
You need to look at buckling mode and decide
