Non-linear analysis of huge deformation

Hi,

I'm trying to do an analysis of the bending of a very thin profile. (SEE ATTACHMENT).

I want to have both ends of the beam pinned, but then be able to move the one support closer to the other without changing the length of the beam. This will result in a deformation and a stress in the beam, and those are the results I'm looking for.

I want to be able to move the two supports very close together. Is Robot able to do this??

I'm quite new in Robot, so I'm not really sure about how to do this?. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Timo

Hi,

no, it is not possible to analyze such structure in Robot. The assumption of small rotations is used in it so any rotations exceeding 10 to 20 degrees can result in convergence problems of non-linear analysis.
