New type of steel parametric member

Hi,

 

I am asking for new type of steel parametric member. It will be very useful for steel designers which use profiles with tapered web. Practically designer will provide structure geometry from steel joint to steel joint without recalculating coordinates of internal (external) flange thickness change and web thickness change.

 

The new type of steel member should look like this:

It could be used for example in such type of steel frames:

As you see, this part of structure requires 10 nodes (5 joints and additional 5). With new tapered members we will input only joint coordinates, the rest of nodes will be calculated internally in Robot.

Every frame optimization (by change of web or flanges properties) will not require to calculate coordinates of a lot of nodes located between joints, additionally we will have only 4 (5) members not 9 as in sample the picture.

By use of new type of steel parametric members, we can model this frame in such a way:

Any possibility is there where automatically optimises these profiles based on parameters assigned by users such as specifying range of flange sizes and web thickness ranges ???
